EU leaders visit Expo 2025 Osaka

EU leaders visit Expo 2025 Osaka

On 22 July, President of the European Council, António Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, visited Expo 2025 Osaka.

The high-level visit began at the Japan Pavilion, described as "full of innovation, showing how plants can be used to produce sustainability." The delegation then moved to the EU Pavilion, which was praised as “captivating – a powerful reflection of our values and commitment to sustainability.” Finally, the leaders visited the Ukraine Pavilion, described as “powerful, filled with objects that tell the story of what defines Ukraine and its people.”

At the EU Pavilion, the entire team was honoured to welcome the EU’s highest-level representatives and to witness their enthusiastic response to the way Europe’s creativity, sustainability, and innovation are showcased on a global stage like Expo 2025 Osaka.

Their presence underscored the strength of the strategic partnership between the European Union and Japan, the EU’s closest partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

This visit, on the eve of the EU-Japan Summit (on July 23), was also a strong symbol of a Europe looking ahead, together, with innovation, sustainability, and dialogue at the heart of shared values.
