At Expo 2025 Osaka, the EU Pavilion with its theme of ‘Nurturing Tomorrow’, showcased initiatives that brought to life its commitments to sustainability, connectivity, inclusivity, and security.
The EU Pavilion also embodied the deep political, economic, and cultural ties between the EU and Japan, and the strong partnership which works together to promote peace and find solutions to global challenges.
The Facade Design

The EU Pavilion facade was a fusion of East and West - combining the principles of aesthetics, sustainability and inclusion of the New European Bauhaus - with inspiration from Japanese art such as the Japanese Ema plaques and the precision of Origami.
The facade featured rotating, petal-like modules made from sustainable bamboo, which moved with the breeze, mirroring the graceful motion of Sakura blossoms and bringing to life the Pavilion’s theme of ‘Nurturing Tomorrow’.
Not only a decorative element, the facade continually evolved throughout the Expo, shifting colours and patterns to reflect different events and themes and inviting you to explore the spirit of co-creation and creativity at the heart of Expo 2025 Osaka.
Visitor Experience

The EU Pavilion was a space for discovery, dialogue, and interaction. It offered an immersive, nature-inspired experience, designed with sustainable materials and elements that evoked the feel of a serene outdoor garden.
There were four distinct areas in the EU Pavilion connected by a winding path lined with moss and plants, with each space enhanced by natural scents and lighting to create a forest ambiance. The organic design of the Pavilion created a tranquil, airy, and expansive atmosphere.
To help visitors find their way, a tactile floor plan was available, and an audio guide was also offered for visually impaired guests.
