From Osaka with love: Myaku-Myaku visits the EU’s headquarters

Myaku Myaku mascot in front of an Expo 2025 Osaka billboard

Myaku-Myaku — the official mascot of Expo 2025 Osaka — recently visited us at our headquarters here in Brussels!

For those who aren’t already acquainted with the loveable shape-shifter, the mascot’s name comes from the word myaku (literally meaning ‘pulse’ in Japanese), and the red and blue colours symbolise cells and water, respectively. Myaku-Myaku hopes that our knowledge and culture can pulse onwards to future generations for the benefit of all life on Earth.

While giving Myaku-Myaku a tour of the iconic Berlaymont Building and the Experience Europe exhibition, we had the chance to discuss the EU’s participation in the forthcoming Expo (beginning 13 April 2025) and the longstanding cultural, political, and economic ties shared between the EU and Japan. Needless to say, it was a fruitful and exciting visit for us both!
